BASIC FUNCTION

Researches and interprets complex financial reporting and accounting questions. Challenges data and information integrity and reliability. Recommends action plans to enhance financial planning and controls. Works as a business partner providing decision support to the business units, developing a rapport with the business unit contacts and promotes a collegial partnership. Conducts special studies to analyze complex accounting questions and prepares recommendations for policy, controls or actions. Takes ownership of assigned areas of responsibility including assigned areas for SEC external reporting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop an analysis of technical accounting questions, form an independent conclusion and present the recommendation to the Director of Financial Policy, VP of Consolidations, Accounting Policy, and External Reporting, or Corporate Controller. Will work closely with the business units to ensure a holistic approach to resolving technical accounting matters.
  • Takes ownership of sections of the external Financial Reporting process to ensure compliance with SEC and SOX rules working closely with the external auditors. Able to work independently and multi-task multiple projects and work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
  • Must have strong SEC reporting as well as technical accounting experience preferably with exposure to revenue recognition, acquisition accounting, stock based compensation, and lease accounting. Must have strong communication skills, both written and oral, with demonstrated exposure to leading technical discussions with senior management and with writing technical accounting memos.
  • Possesses an inquisitive and analytical mind; continuously questions the status quo and works to improve processes
  • Must be a goal driven, enthusiastic, team oriented individual with the ability to work together and partner with others to achieve assigned projects. Must be able to handle working on different projects with different people at the same time.

Qualifications:

  • Competent to perform complex analysis which includes financial planning, forecasting, reporting, variance analyses and modeling.
  • Uses creative insights into financial situations.
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience with a proven proficiency in performing complex financial analyses, SEC reporting and/or auditing of SEC reporting, and experience in various technical accounting matters.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • CPA Strongly preferred (or in progress)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

  • HFM user experience and Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to work independently and under time constraints.
