POSITION SUMMARY
ADP’s Global Enterprise Technology and Solutions organization is seeking a forwarding thinking team player who will contribute to the architecture, design, implementation and ongoing automation and engineering of monitoring tools to support ADP Applications. The Software Enterprise Monitoring Engineer functions as a key resource between application owners, software engineers, application support and the operations teams. In this role you will own and be responsible for the Event Management System and leverage your programming and monitoring expertise to develop and engineer solutions that take manual processes and automate them for improved efficiencies. Effective monitoring of our application’s availability and performance is key to our organizations success. Engineering and automating solutions for a high volume, 24/7 production environment will require unique approaches, low risk implementations and forward thinking.
The ideal candidate must be creative, self-motivated, innovative, detail oriented, and eager to work with the latest technologies along with a strong desire to maintain and help improve ADP’s applications and supporting services.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Own, run, engineer solutions for the Netcool Omnibus Event Management System and Netcool Impact
- Partner closely with all organizations that deliver our application service to our customers from developers to database administrators, to application support and operations teams to architect and engineer effective monitoring solutions
- Automate all monitoring solutions and deliver self-service features to the organization
- Achieve and maintain a holistic understanding of ADP applications, technologies, and services
- Drive continuous improvement of automation through the organization to ensure optimal operations, performance, and stability of services
- Contribute to a scrum agile recipe team delivering MVPs that help to advance the organization
- Promote use of innovative new technology and best practices for a large scale enterprise
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of IT/Internet industry experience in a high volume, 24/7 production environment
- Application design experience in Python, Java and UI development or with similar scripting and programming languages
- Netcool Omnibus Event Management experience (OS, Gateways, Probes, Impact)
- Experience with coding solutions leveraging vendor SOAP and Rest APIs
- Experience scripting automation solutions and developing front end UIs for these solutions.
- Experience in one of the following database technologies preferred (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Mongodb, Cassandra, Gemfire, Cloudera Hadoop)
- Experience a plus in one or more of the following monitoring technologies (HP SiteScope, HP BSM/BPM, Edge Technologies, Splunk, ELK,)
- Consideration given to those with similar experiences with tools in server and application monitoring
- Experience with orchestration tools such as HPOO and Ansible
- Must work well with cross functional teams
- Ability to work well under pressure & complete project deliverables within deadline and with minimum supervision
- Excellent team player
- Strong communication skills both verbal & written
- Experience with automation and monitoring technologies
- Experience with cloud technologies / methodologies strongly desired
Education
- B.S. in Computer Science / Engineering from a reputable US university preferred (or related field or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred)
