The Role

  • Provide leadership, technology design expertise, direction, coordination, and consultation, in the development, integration, launch, scaling, and maintenance of new and existing products and solutions.
  • Promote use of innovative new technology and best practices for new product and solution development initiatives.
  • Influence and govern current and strategic architectural blueprints.
  • Promote architectural initiatives that drive revenue and improve efficiency aligned with business strategy.
  • Identify key interactions and entities across the value chain, including suppliers, business processes and clients.
  • Identify and manage issues of interdependencies among business areas and core technology architecture.
  • Document the business operating model and create operational and strategic views of the business that facilitate decision-making and coordination throughout the value chain and among diverse initiatives.

A typical day in the life of the role will consist of one or many of the following;

  • Define how a solution will be constructed: which existing Solution Building Blocks will be integrated, how they will be integrated, how they will be secured and what gaps in capability need to be filled.
  • Serve as design authority at a project level by understanding the business goals and technology constraints and designing appropriate solutions that map to the organization’s enterprise architecture.
  • Articulate high-level directives, goals, strategies, and turn them into actionable steps that can be understood deep within the organization.
  • Ensure initiative and project alignment with business and IT goals.
  • Leverage the most value from existing investments but commissions new solution building blocks as necessary.
  • Apply globally-agreed upon standards from Foundation strategy whenever possible. Ensures business solutions have an enterprise and strategic perspective but develops locally-applied technology where local perspectives are a better fit for purpose.

Required skills / experience

  • Bachelor’s degree; preferably in a quantitative field.
  • Excellent knowledge of C#, ASP.Net and/or ASP.Net MVC
  • Strong knowledge of REST API principle and guidelines
  • Strong knowledge on securing web applications — OAuth, SAML etc.
  • Working knowledge of RDBMS e.g. MS SQL.
  • Enterprise Architecture experience and understanding of impact of strategy, process capability and governance on business performance.
  • Strong collaboration, exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills and the ability to interact with global technical and functional teams including the business.
  • Customer focused, action oriented and committed to driving quality results.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new processes and technologies in order to meet business needs and drive business value.
  • Strong ability to resolve conflicts with the ability to influence and drive consensus.
  • Must be a team player and be able to work collaboratively with and through others.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

You will also have some experience of, or a desire to learn about the following:

  • Saas, PaaS, IaaS eg. AWS, Azure
  • Continuous delivery and / or DevOps
  • NoSQL eg. MongoDB, CouchDB, Cassandra
  • Willingness and ability to mentor staff
  • Message Queue systems e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka
  • Version control solutions e.g. Git, Mercurial
  • JavaScript, CSS, HTML5 and major UX frameworks such as Angular
