ADP is hiring a Sr. Director Learning Design

The Sr. Director Learning COE Design leads ADPs Center of Expertise team responsible for designing, developing and maintaining learning solutions aligned with the overall learning strategy and roadmap for ADP. As part of ADPs global Enterprise Learning Team, this critical role helps shape the plan that brings to reality our mission of an effortless, personalized, modern learning experience for clients and associates that positively impacts business results. What ADPs calls “Just in Time; Just Enough; Just for you” learning.

This includes designing and developing best in class learning solutions that support ADPs global businesses with : associate & client onboarding, product releases & migrations, business-specific technology applications and processes, job-specific, core skills and industry certifications. This COE leader will drive the overall design strategy, develop standards within the COE and the business case to support additional investments to ensure learning requirements are considered from project initiation through release. 

The Sr. Dir Learning COE Design also leads the team in analyzing and selecting the most appropriate strategy, methodologies and technologies to maximize the learning experience and impact. This position collaborates closely with the BU Learning Teams, the CoE(Center of Expertise) of Operations and Delivery, Product Management and Knowledge Management teams to ensure learning content is aligned across ADP. It is critical that this leader stay aware of Human Capital Management practices as well as trends in learning and instructional design to achieve best in class learning and support ADP’s wide client demographic.

As needed and in partnership with the Business Unit & Product leaders, the Sr. Dir Learning Design seeks opportunities for fee-based client deliverables. Additionally, the Sr. Dir Learning Design selects and manages external learning vendors when outsourcing design and development proves to be the most effective solution.

What your day-to-day looks like:

Staff management: Recruits, selects and manages Learning Design team. Assigns roles, responsibilities and projects. Conducts performance appraisals and makes compensation decisions. Provides coaching and mentoring and supports continuous learning and staff development that enhances individual performance and team capabilities. Manages off shore/smart shore resources as needed. Implements and measures performance using industry standard tools and measurement instruments

Analysis: In partnership with the Business Unit leaders, leads the team to identify target population characteristics and characteristics of the environment; gathers and evaluates resources and information, analyzes findings and incorporates or synthesizes information into the design and development process; identifies anticipated constraints or problems affecting design success or failure, such as equipment deficiencies, lack of support, etc.; defines basic outcomes of the learning intervention to solve the problem or meet the opportunity. Understands learning measurement and collaborates to align approach into design methodologies and design operations.

Design and development: Leads the team to follow defined standards and process in designing curriculum and learning solutions, creates designs and specifications for instructional material, analyzes and selects technologies, integrates technology options, and develops instructional materials. Manages to the standards of the ADP L&P organization. Understands the latest design methodologies and learning standards and works to incorporate innovation into the design methodologies. Drives standards around holistic, end to end design approaches among all learning groups to ensure quality and consistency. Sets overall strategy of the development and management of learning solution design projects in alignment with organization’s product development life cycle.

Operations: Manages overall department operations, such as staffing, development tools, methodologies, best practices, etc. to ensure high quality, cost effective output. Incorporates process improvement into the design organization to drive continuous improvement.

Vendor management: In partnership with Vendor Management selects and manages external training vendors responsible for designing and/or developing learning solutions.

Quality Assurance and evaluation: Ensures tools, processes and defined roles and responsibilities are in place to assess and test the learning design solution and its impact. Lead the measurement of the learning intervention on performance and learning ROI.

Budgeting: Forecasts and manages to Design budget.

Relationship Management: Builds and cultivates relationships within the L&P organization as well as other areas of ADP critical to the success of this position, specifically, Sales Learning and Global Talent and Development, to ensure learning content is cohesive and supports ADP’s HCM strategy and initiatives. Collaborates closely with other departments to plan and manage rollouts.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in experience with a preference for Master’s Degree in Instructional Design or other related degree
  • Minimum of 10 Years Directly Related Experience in the learning discipline 
  • 8-10 Years People Leadership (with direct or indirect reports)
  • Up to 20-30% Travel Required
  • Required to work varied hours to cover global team
  • Demonstrated ability with implementing learning & development program metrics that measure solution impact. Intrinsically curious, creative, and an innovation problem solver.
  • A great listener possessing emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal skills, and quick to build trust amongst stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with senior leaders and establish credibility as a trusted business advisor
  • Ability to manage all phases of a solution/project lifecycle, from initial solution design and planning, to execution and measurement

Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

  • Advanced Instructional design certification preferred 
  • Applies broad industry and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance across learning sub functions
