POSITION:
 
We are seeking a Data Modeler/Data Architect to join our Norfolk, VA Team! Will be a part of a team automating and engineering our processes.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
  • Evaluate existing data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies.
  • Facilitate the discovery of entities, attributes, relationships, and business rules from the functional experts and the user community.
  • Develop and manage data models and associated metadata for the enterprise.
  • Maintain and publish project business rules and the associated enterprise data dictionary.
  • Work with Business Analysts, Data Architects, Software developers, DBAs to achieve project objectives – delivery dates, cost objectives, quality objectives, business customer satisfaction objectives, etc.
  • Leverage and enforce standards for data naming conventions to ensure consistency and reuse of data models.
  • Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts.
  • Work with our existing Release Coordination Team and take their extensive business knowledge/IP and help get this engineered and automated.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Extensive data modeling experience – Normalized ER modeling and dimensional modeling. In dimensional modeling, the resource should be able to demonstrate hands-on experience in designing slowly changing dimensions, understanding and implementation of the CDC process, metrics design. Modeling experience from conceptual modeling to logical and physical modeling.
  • Knowledge of data modeling standards knowledge, approach to requirements gathering, physical model translations etc.
  • In-depth skills in database layer, semantic layer architectures.
  • In Depth understanding of data warehouse architecture.
  • Experience in using data modeling tools

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 5-7 years in business environments in Data warehouse and Data Modeling, and Architecture
  • Python experience a plus!  Highly desirable skill
