Chief Architect – Enterprise Strategy

Position Summary:
ADP is searching for a successful Chief Enterprise Architect to join our high performance Enterprise Architecture team. The successful candidate will have a strong command of software architecture, programming, latest web technologies and frameworks. This is a key senior position that will help to define the Technology Blueprint for ADP and will collaborate with architects across the organization as well as present to Executive Leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Architecture Vision and Technology Roadmap that aligns to the business strategy and objectives 
  • Define architecture standards and governance/review processes needed to support the Enterprise Architecture
  • Work with business partners to understand the strategic priorities and translate them to Enterprise Architecture requirements
  • Collaborate with Line of Business Architects to understand current state and develop migration plans to target state
  • Develop and support strong cross functional partnerships with CIO, Global Security, Product, and Line of Business architects
  • Advocate within the organization, from line level to C-level, to ensure architectural priorities are known and executed within the broader business context 
  • Provide technical leadership, motivation, and mentorship to other architect, engineers, and developers throughout the organization
  • Evaluate and select new and emerging technologies based on business need and fit within the architecture vision and strategy
  • Work with the Infrastructure, Operations, and Development organizations to ensure system architectures are robust, scalable and secure, with appropriate overall system design and integration points/APIs, to deliver a high quality customer experience
  • Collaborate in building a culture of continuous delivery and improvement, ensuring that key systems are regularly analyzed, maintained, and resilient
  • Establish a Deep and Powerful Network outside the company, including technology and resource suppliers. Assimilate industry trends and ideas as a means of cultivating innovation, recruiting great people and leveraging partner resources in solving tough business challenges

Qualifications:

  • B.S. /M.S. degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • 10+ years of experience building and leading the development of complex systems
  • Versed across the Technology Spectrum with Business Acumen 
  • Internally and externally recognized as a key and Influential Leader
  • Understands Technology vs Business Impact
  • Expertise in one of the following with working knowledge of all at high levels: 
    • IT Infrastructure
    • Application Architecture
    • Security Architecture
    • Data Architecture
    • Business Architecture
  • Deep understanding of the fundamentals required to build highly available and scalable services, including the benefits and trade-offs between asynchronous and synchronous processing, various methods for sharing and segmenting services, and how to anticipate and prevent scaling bottlenecks
  • Experience designing, rolling out and iteratively improving enterprise architecture across a large number of tightly and loosely-coupled distinct products, including successful integration of core platform capabilities that are leveraged across the entire product suite
  • Experience leveraging platforms across Hybrid Cloud Infrastructures
  • Demonstrates knowledge and practice of Advanced Architectural Skills, including creation and management of key solution and enterprise tools and artifacts, such as strategy development, roadmaps, blueprints; sequencing and system, software and process models
  • Mastery of object oriented design and design patterns
  • Experience with Microservice Architecture patterns
  • Experience with Agile / Scrum Development

  • Influence by example: scientific proof of an idea (success or failure) as the presentation tool — represent an idea in order to promote it
  • Abstract Thinking: view of ideas and solutions as abstractions/patterns that can be leveraged/adapted/reused — deliver frameworks instead of point solutions
  • Passion: A need to be “passionate” about producing exceptional solutions in a collaborative environment (e.g., Agile methodology preferred). Must always be curious and excited to try new technologies.
