Software Specialist I (Automation Architect)
This position focuses on design and development of Automation tools to enable efficient and scalable testing of ADP client applications. Also provides senior-level mentoring to other development engineers in their automation-related tasks, as well as to non-technical associates in use of the automation toolsets.
Automation Architects may develop and review requirements, create design documents, write programs, package, test, configure and deploy software. Automation Architects also participate and collaborate with other stakeholders including security, quality assurance, training, project management, engineering, hosting, & procurement when required to assist in other aspects of their projects.
Automation Architects at ADP are expected to be results-oriented, have knowledge of the relevant platforms and environments, and be familiar with business process, functions and data within their domain to provide innovative, insightful, and secure solutions.
- Designs, codes, and maintains hosted client/server and web applications with a focus on high product availability, optimum performance, and security.
- Develops high-quality well-documented code based on specifications developed in conjunction with application experts from other departments within the organization.
- Performs thorough debugging and unit testing of code before turning it over to the Quality Assurance Group.
- Determines how changes to existing code/functionality will impact existing clients, customer support, training, etc.
- Works with the Quality Assurance Group (as needed) to resolve defects and answer technical questions.
- Provides technical support to the client services organization to determine resolutions/workarounds for client issues. Based on the criticality of an issue this support may require the engineer to work quickly in a stressful situation.
Requirements:
- Strong experience developing in Java.
- Strong experience with Web Services (REST or SOAP).
- Strong Structured Query Language (SQL) skills are required.
- Strong JavaScript Language skills are required.
- Strong WEB UI skills are required.
- Ability to read data models and understand database table relationships is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related degree or an equivalent in education and experience. A master’s degree in computer science or an MBA is preferred.
Strong Plus:
- Experience/knowledge with Windows, Mac, and UNIX operating systems.
- Experience with MS SQL-Server.
- Experience with Web Frameworks (DOJO, Extended-JS, JQuery, AngularJS).
- Apache Tomcat, IIS6+
- Selenium
