What you will be doing:

Our Senior Devops Engineers provide specialist operational support and expertise for ADP’s key strategic European cloud-based Human Capital Management solutions. In this position, you will become an expert in the support of the application (e.g. deployment and troubleshooting) along with the delivery pipeline; moving through pre-production, production and DR environments. You will also be expected to become familiar with the purpose and function of middleware, interfaced systems and DevOps automation. As you would expect for systems processing personal data, security and compliance must be carefully considered and preserved on all technical work being performed.

This individual will manage, configure, secure, support and troubleshoot applications and services on associated physical and virtual servers. This work will be performed in coordination with fellow team members to ensure all systems remain functional, available and secure.

This multi-role position requires versatility and appropriate levels of competency in several IT domains of knowledge including Microsoft servers/services (including .NET and SQL), Linux servers/services, DevOps automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible, etc.) and scripting. It will present unique challenges and opportunities to learn and grow for all members of the team.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Pragmatically review the delivery pipeline, identify & implement improvements and work with stakeholders to effect change
  • Research, design, and recommend complex infrastructure solutions to meet requirements
  • Manage initial escalations for issues in supported environments
  • Maintain high level of application availability in supported environments
  • Coordinate/execute application deployments in pre-production and production environments
  • You will at times be required to work out-of-hours to execute deployments/patches/upgrades
  • Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation in support of production services
  • Contribute as a Technical Lead during major incidents
  • Undertake root cause investigations with the support of concerned teams (e.g. Engineering, R&D etc…)

Job Related Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience at in £mm T/O business or 5+ years in a smaller business
  • Effective Agile/Scrum team member
  • Experience with the following technologies:
    • Essential
      • Windows Server 2008/2012 Admin and Support
      • Microsoft .NET services
      • Development & Scripting (e.g. Python, PowerShell)
      • DevOps tools (e.g. Jenkins, Ansible, BitBucket, Artifactory)
      • Microsoft IIS
      • Web protocols
    • Desirable
      • Agile methodology (in Operations)
      • MS SQL Server (intermediate level)
      • SQL Scripting
      • Better-than-basic-level – (Useful)
      • LINUX admin
      • RabbitMQ
      • Basic network diagnostics
