POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for processing federal/State/Local/Territory tax agency remittances valued annually at $320 billion dollars. Responsible for ensuring compliance and accuracy related to 2K agencies and their specific requirements. Meets both quality and production standards established for this level.

Responds to Agency, Payroll Center and Client inquiries in a professional and timely manner. Provides research and assistance related to original or amended tax filings. Monitors established turnaround guidelines. Must be proficient in the following applications: TOPS, Lotus Notes, Web Access, QA Environment, Word, Powerpoint and Excel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Remit/amend tax returns timely in accordance with Agency, Region, and Client requirements. This position requires the specialist to have in depth and up-to-date knowledge of procedures, requirements, and new legislation pertaining to approximately 52 jurisdictions.
  • Initiate financial transactions during remittance processing up to $308M and impacting approximately 6k employers on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for validation of deposit cycles (daily, monthly, annually) with annual financial activity in excess of $320B.
  • On a daily basis, responsible for accessing and securing confidential client and/or employee level information on all remittances. This includes, but is not limited to, Federal/State/Local/Territory identification numbers, social security numbers, wage and tax information, etc.
  • Maintains Federal/State/Local/Territory calendars that are required for deposit cycle validation.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with legislative changes that impact assigned jurisdictions.
  • Research client, agency and payroll center inquiries and respond in a timely, accurate and professional manner. Provide support to all ADP business segments (SBS, Major Accounts, National Accounts, Tax Service).
  • Adheres to current remittance/research records and procedures.
  • Assist in training of new employees
  • Complete special projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and provide solutions to improve level of service provided to business partners.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce labor, workarounds, and/or system limitations.
  • Must possess job knowledge of all jurisdictions, processes and procedures
  • Responsible for High profile FACS and Exception Funding clients.
  • Must have detailed understanding of pay receive and funding processes.
  • Must meet requirements of a Sr. Tax Processing Specialist.
  • Telephone contact with internal and external areas (region, agency, vendors).
  • Evaluate and respond to client and agency correspondence as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Ability to process workload effectively within 6 months of job acceptance.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma required.

Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:

  • AA/AS or BA/BS preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of research and filing procedures and resources. Thorough knowledge of the automated tax system. Previous payroll, tax, or banking experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of pay receive and funding systems.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills. Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Organizational skills are a must. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize/gain the involvement of, and diverse work groups and/or task forces to accomplish specific project or department goals.
