IT Operations Control Lead (Monitoring, Console Operations, Compliance, & Routine System Maintenance)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hours:  4 – 10 hour shifts; Wednesday – Saturday, 10:30 am – 8:30 pm

  • Availability Management: Monitors technology performance 24/7/365 with accountability to business users, clients, and service managers for service availability. Understands business requirements and cycles escalating utilization, throughput, and maintenance window concerns. Measures and reports on availability. Analyzes information and identifies trends. Provides feedback to implementation engineering and service management on alert thresholds.
  • Event Management: Manages changes of state of IT Infrastructure leveraging automation and monitoring systems and tools. Drive the restoration of normal service operation as quickly as possible and minimize the adverse impact on business operations in the case of a failure or reduction in quality to an IT service. Log, prioritize, diagnose, escalate, and/or resolve Events which include Incidents, Major Incidents, Requests, and Changes. Communicate impact, work-around procedure, incremental updates on status, and resolution to business users, clients, and other IT organizations.
  • Manages routine maintenance, scheduled tasks, and cyclical business operations including backups, recycles, and restarts. Supports business back-office operations. Accountable for all hardware break fix coordinating support with vendors, data centers, and implementation engineering. Maintains operations logs/reports, shift schedule logs/reports, and scheduled reports.
  • Continuity Management: Supports disaster recovery testing efforts. Supplies feedback to design engineering in post test reviews. Executes standard recovery procedures in the case of true disaster declaration.
  • Capacity Management: Monitors technology performance during business use cycles with accountability for meeting capacity demands. Triages performance and capacity issues based on Run Book prescribed instruction. Escalates to Technical & Application Management and/or Implementation Engineering as required. Provides feedback on capacity concerns and observed trends. Performs health checks.

Organization Development and Leadership:

  • Coaching and Mentoring front line associates. Providing support, direction, and feedback to department. Supporting management by administering to staff, enabling productivity, and realizing associate potential. Recognizing positive achievements and counseling to performance gaps under the guidance and feedback from management.
  • Engaging peers and clients to gauge team results and performance. Identifying practices and responsibilities which require improvement. Probing for value added opportunities. Negotiating and agreeing to standards, rules of engagement, and other inter-departmental standards.
  • Provide leadership to the organization that creates, empowers, and delivers World-Class Support to IT and the businesses that we support.
  • Effectively communicate goals and objectives to the organization, working closely with associates to drive success.
  • Inspire teamwork within the Organization and IT
  • Support IT goals and objectives

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • BS/BA — Business or technical degree, with an emphasis on business or appropriate business experience is required.
  • 5 year’s experience in Enterprise Operations Function
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership experience across all IT functions
  • Ability to inspire teamwork between organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to organize and mobilize interdepartmental work groups
  • Establish and maintain excellent business relationships
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent influential skills are critical
  • Must be Service and Client Driven
  • Must be comfortable dealing with all levels of management
  • Good technical understanding of all Hosted & Mainframe platforms
  • Ability to build and grow an organization
  • Must be assertive in order to represent clients best interest at all times

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:
 
  • Previous IT Leadership Experience
  • ITIL Certification(s)
  • Working knowledge and Experience with Operating System Administration: UNIX/Linux/Windows, MVS operating system(s)
  • Demonstrated experience, or knowledge, with general IT topics client/server, OS, Database, networking, security, and automation
