Duties

The Associate Director for Board Relations will assist the Board of Governors and various volunteer committees in fulfilling the mission of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Will work with Vice President & Advancement team in actively engaging volunteers in SAIC mission. Serve as a liaison between the board, senior staff and other constituents. Provide stewardship and cultivation of board members. Point person for ensuring Board of Governor and Committee strategies are met through the fulfillment of meeting agendas and planned programming. Work closely with Assistant Corporate Secretary in ensuring that Art Institute of Chicago policies and procedures related to board management are upheld. Ensure scheduling of meetings of the Board of Governors aligns with meetings of the Board of Trustees and Art Institute of Chicago Nominating Committee. Work closely with members of the advancement team in preparing materials to support board and committee members. Directly engage volunteers, staff and faculty in preparing for meetings and supporting volunteers with speaking points and advance preparation. Meeting management includes, but not limited to: Special Committee/Working Groups (i.e. Fashion Committee) meetings, Board of Governor meetings and Board sub-committee meetings, special ad-hoc meetings of the Board of Governors.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree required. Minimum 3 years board or volunteer management experience. Proven track record of successful program management is critical. Must be energetic, creative, well-organized, process/detail oriented with ability to multi-task. Must be willing to work evenings/weekends. Proficiency in MS Office and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Strong interpersonal skills.
